In the intimacy of a jazz bar, a saxophonist in a blue suit engages in a wordless dialogue with a woman in a red dress, seated against the piano. The glasses, the brass globes, the varnished wood: everything vibrates to the rhythm of a sustained note between them. With A Note Between Us, Le Yack composes a cinematic scene where music becomes narrative. The green light of the walls, the diagonal of the piano lid, the restraint of gestures—echoing a nocturnal Hopper—transform the moment into an elegant tension, between desire and silence. This work, part of the Nocturnes Américaines capsule collection published by Atelier Joconde, celebrates urban iconography and the female presence as a narrative force: a story of glances, poised on the brink of change.
